Just because HTC recently made its forthcoming entry-level mobile focus public, it doesn’t mean their low-cost efforts will be altogether lackluster. Take the Desire 8. Though built out of plastic, and thus significantly cheaper-looking than the HTC One, the purported 5.5-inch phablet made a few waves last week, as its first details cropped up online.
Now additional pics are floating around, this time actually posted by HTC on Weibo, plus leak master @evleaks has come through, cracking the hardware case almost in full. As expected, the Desire 8 (aka A5) will keep screen resolution in check, at 1,280 x 720 pixels, while packing decent oomph, thanks to a quad-core 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 chip and 1.5 GB RAM.

Low-end? Not exactly, especially when you add the 13 MP and 5 MP cameras in the equation. I mean, there are so-called flagships out and about incapable of delivering the crisp photos and selfies this bad boy shall bring to the table. Then you have pre-loaded Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI on top, and BoomSound stereo speakers. Plus, the cherry on top: multiple color combos, including black, white, red, yellow and purple. The purple in particular is enticing, but be sure to check them all out on February 24, i.e. next Monday, when HTC apparently plans to unveil the Desire 8. Oddly, not at Barcelona’s Mobile World Congress, but in Beijing.Meanwhile, although it’s most definitely over a month away from its debut, the “All New HTC One” (also known as M8) continues to build buzz. Today, by paying FCC a visit, and then acting like nothing happened.

Odd
how the FCC listing of one HTC 0P6B120 just vanished in thin air, yet
luckily someone managed to get the scoop in due time. Apparently, this
particular variant of the all new One may be headed to AT&T, as it
supports 4G LTE on bands 2, 4 and 17.No way it’s to launch only on AT&T though, so expect other versions to surface in coming weeks.
